Christmas card address labels from a spreadsheet

A Christmas card list is one household per row. LabelCSV reads the CSV or Excel file in this browser and downloads a US Letter PDF. The file is not uploaded.

Avery 5160 is already selected below. That is the 30-up address label. Print the return address as a second PDF.

Your spreadsheet stays in this browser.

LabelCSV does not upload the file, and there is no Google permission prompt. Paste a publish-to-web CSV link, or open a file from this computer.

1. Add rows

2. Label text

3. Sheet and print

The usual 30-up address label. Three columns, ten rows, on US Letter.

Alignment

Nudge moves every label the same amount when the printer drifts. It is saved on this browser.

Free PDFs include one sheet and a small LabelCSV.com footer. See pricing

Sheet 1 of 1

30 labels

Avery 5160: label 2.625 in by 1 in, top 0.5 in, side 0.1875 in, column gap 0.125 in, row gap 0 in. The preview is scaled. Print the PDF at 100 percent.

The outlines are the label positions. Load rows to fill them.

Which preset to pick

Recipient envelopes use Avery 5160: 1 in tall by 2.625 in wide, three columns, ten rows, 30 labels. The top margin is 0.5 in, the side margin is 0.1875 in, and the gap between columns is 0.125 in. Rows sit against each other, with no extra gap. Avery 8160 and Avery 18160 are that same grid. If the box says 8160 or 18160, still choose 5160 in the menu.

The return address is a second download. Avery 5167 is 0.5 in by 1.75 in, four across and twenty down, 80 labels. It starts at 7 points, and three lines fit. Avery 5195 is 0.66 in by 1.75 in, four across and fifteen down, 60 labels, also at 7 points, and four lines fit. Pick 5195 when you need a company line or a long street. One sheet cannot mix a 5160 address with a 5167 return label. LabelCSV is not affiliated with Avery.

Column tips for a card list

Leave "First row is column names" on. These headers map themselves: Name, Full Name, Recipient, Address, Address 1, Street, Address 2, Apt, Suite, City, State, Province, Zip, Zip Code, and Postal Code. The whole cell has to match, so "Kid Names" will not fill the name line. Rename it, or pick the column in the Address lines menus.

Put the envelope wording in Name, such as "The Nguyen Family". Leave nicknames and a Sent column unmapped. A blank Address 2 is dropped, and City, State, and ZIP join into one line. Skip blank rows is on. If Excel turned 02139 into 2139, fix the ZIP first. The PDF prints the cell text it was given.

There is no copies box. Repeat the return row once per label, or type it as plain text in the free-form template with no {column} tokens.

Steps

  1. Paste a CSV, drop a .csv, .xls, or .xlsx file, or load a published Google Sheet. If the workbook has more than one tab, pick the tab after it opens.
  2. Check Name, Address line 1, City, State, and ZIP. Set Address line 2 to Skip when you have no second line.
  3. Leave Start at label on 1 unless the sheet is partly used. Label 1 is the top left, then left to right. On 5160 the second row starts at 4. Later sheets start at 1.
  4. Read the preview. Type starts at 10 point Helvetica, and you can set 6 to 24. Lines that do not fit are left off.
  5. Download the PDF and print at 100 percent. A free PDF is one sheet: 30 labels on 5160, 80 on 5167, or 60 on 5195. A small LabelCSV.com line sits in the bottom margin.

Print alignment

Print the alignment test on plain paper at 100 percent, with fit-to-page and browser headers and footers turned off. If the numbered boxes are all shifted the same way, set Nudge right or Nudge up, from -0.5 to 0.5 inches. A higher number moves the print that way. Print the test again. The nudge is saved in this browser. The test does not use a credit.

Questions

Can one list print both the recipient labels and the return labels?

Yes, as two PDFs. Use Avery 5160 for recipients, then Avery 5167 or 5195 for the return address. One sheet cannot mix the sizes.

Does this print the Christmas card?

No. It prints address text onto label stock. The card design stays in whatever you already use.

What if the top row of labels is already peeled off?

Set Start at label to the first free spot. On Avery 5160, a missing first row starts at 4. Only the first sheet uses that start.

Do I need to sign in with Google?

No. Open a file from this computer, or paste a publish-to-web CSV link. A private share link will not load.
